About Me
- PJouppi
- Juneau, Alaska, United States
- Like most artists I can recollect a childhood making drawings of life's experiences. Education turned my art technical. Moving to the Northwest then Alaska which forced my inner artist out. Alaska drives an artist to portray its vast beauty in ways not observed by the average individual and I strive to bring forward the feelings I have when I am in the wilderness. My professional painting endeavors began with pastel painting of wildlife and sculpting while living in the Matanuska Valley where we raised our family and I taught for the University. My love of Alaskana, Northwestern cultures, and wildlife emerges from the fabric I paint on and the wood, stone, and clay that I sculpt. I am an evolving artist; learning from nature and from all those who share the artistic gift and my goal is to express nature as an evolving interaction of feelings. Oil and watercolor now serve as my primary media. Wild things still dominate my subject matter, I've shown in many juried shows.
